To maintain pressure integrity, turbines need a pressure tight casing to contain the gas or steam. Gas turbines require only one outer casing, while steam turbines require both inner and outer steel casings. These require bolting together to maintain high integrity seals. Steam turbine bolting is required to maintain mechanical and creep properties at the plant’s operating temperatures which are typically in the 500-600°C range. Gas turbine bolting requirements vary depending on where the bolts are situated on the casing relative to the high temperature combustion area. Corus supply turned and heat treated bar which is then machined and threaded by our customers to produce the bolts, nuts and cap nuts. Steel grades Corus produce steels to a wide range of national, international and customer specific specifications, these fall into two main groups:
Product range Bolts are generally produced from rolled bar available from Corus in the following sizes: Rolled rounds 25 – 381 mm dia. Turned bar 20 – 350 mm dia. For full product listing download our Power Generation pocket book available on this page. | |
